Avast SecureMe Features
- Protects your personal information and data while you are using unsecured Wi-Fi networks
- Automatically scans Wi-Fi network for vulnerabilities
- Manual list of trusted networks (home, office)
- Completely free with no ads
User interface is really beautiful, modern and easy to use. There are no complicated settings. You can check the actual screenshots below:
How does Avast SecureMe works?
Once you connect to a Wi-Fi with your iPhone/iPad just launch the app and tap on ‘Scan Wi-Fi‘. If the network is vulnerable you can explore issues by tapping on ‘Found issues‘ or secure yourself by tapping on ‘SecureMe‘. If it is first time your are using Avast SecureMe, app will ask you to install the VPN profile. You can always tell you are secured by having the VPN rectangle in the top bar of your iOS device (between Wi-Fi icon and time).
If you believe the Wi-Fi is private (e.g. at your home or friend’s place), you can add the network to the trusted list by tapping on ‘Mark as trusted‘.
Because SecureMe is completely free and with no ads, you can sometimes get an up-sell offer for the paid product Avast SecureLine VPN. However the up-selling is very soft and not intrusive.

I downloaded avast free antivirus (online version). The installation progress normally upto the window which says 'installation in progress. Do not turn off your PC'. There is a blue bar which fills up normally. But after the bar fills up the window disappears with no future action. There is no error message or confirmation of successful install. No icons have appeared in desktop or in system tray. Action center says Avast is turned off, but clicking 'turn on' doesn't do anything. Programs list in Windows control panel does list avast, not with their trademark orange icon, but with a windows default icon. Operating system is windows 7 ultimate. I had avira and malwarebytes previously, but removed both before installing avast. Tried several times even tried repairing avast. Nothing works, please help.
